*Position Summary*
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our clients' complex infrastructures.
A Senior Network Engineer is an advanced level engineering position, requiring extensive server, storage, virtualization and networking skills, a strong attention to detail, and high-level diagnostic and problems solving skills.
You will be responsible for ensuring seamless network operations, optimizing performance, and delivering exceptional support to meet our clients' business needs.
Leveraging your extensive networking expertise, you will work with a team of network engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class technology solutions.
This position covers a wide array of activities, focused, but not limited to the design, implementation and support of server, storage, and network infrastructure.
Excellent customer service, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential.
Primary duties include: 1) The application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software and system functional specifications; 2) The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of complex systems, based on and related to user or system needs; 3) The design, documentation, testing, installation and configuration of systems in a VMWare and Microsoft Server environment.
Linux knowledge is strongly preferred but not required; Position requires a willingness to mentor engineers and technicians, fostering their professional growth, being available for assistance, and promoting a positive team environment.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* * Offer expert-level technical knowledge across various IT domains, including networking, security, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and data storage.
* Collaborate with other team members, clients, and vendors to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
* Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions promptly.
* Architecture and Design: Design, plan, and implement robust network architectures for clients, considering scalability, redundancy, security, and performance requirements.
* Coordinate with Project Managers on installations, upgrades, migrations and expansions, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal disruption to client operations.
* Contribute to knowledge base articles and technical documentation to improve internal processes and client support.
* Provide post-installation troubleshooting and problem resolution.
* Act as a senior technical escalation point within the Professional Services team.
Assist in pre-sales activities as directed by management to architect solutions, create Bill of Materials, determine Scope of Work and estimate hours needed to complete that scope, which may include on-site visits to and walk-through of Client’s existing environment.
* Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate.
* Actively participate in continuing self-education and company-sponsored certification/training initiatives to meet personal growth goals and company/vendor requirements.
* Conduct training sessions for less senior engineers, technicians, and sales team on your areas of expertise when requested.
* Meet performance standards of the department (goals & objectives).
* Daily documentation and reporting of labor time, client information such as network diagrams, and services provided are a daily requirement and crucial to the services provided by Citon.
All communication, scheduling, and follow-up with clients is coordinated through Citon’s Service and Project Management team.
*Competencies & Skills* * Must be a self–starter * Strong sense of teamwork * Strong desire to learn and keep up with new technologies * Strong written and verbal communication skills – must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner with clients.
* Attention to detail is imperative.
Must be able to sort through data to determine appropriate conclusions and ensure that every step of a task is completed.
* Ability to follow though until issues are confirmed resolved is imperative * Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex network issues, often under time constraints.
* A strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service and meeting clients' business objectives *Knowledge, Education & Experience* * Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred * Preferred Certifications include: * Microsoft server * VMware VCP, VCAP, or above Certifications * HP ASE * Fortinet NSE 4 and above certifications * Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Microsoft Server environment * Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing, implementing, managing & troubleshooting networks * Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
Ability to manage and troubleshoot virtualized environments.
* In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching technologies, VLANs, VPNs, security protocols, and network monitoring tools.
* Strong understanding of Active Directory (AD) services, including domain controllers, group management, user authentication, and security policies.
* Experience with designing, implementing, and managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security settings, software deployment, and other network-related configurations across clients' environments.
* Expertise in configuring and managing HP Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, or other major networking equipment manufacturers.
