Job Summary:
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Accountant is responsible for executing and recording the daily financial transactions of the organization professionally and accurately.
This position is involved with the functions of Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, as well as aspects of Billing, Grants Management, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Analysis.
Nearly all aspects of the job involve working with various financial software programs and a high level of competency in that environment is essential.
The Accountant also needs to bring excellent communication skills, organization, time management, integrity, professionalism, and discretion to the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable including receiving and proper coding of invoices, securing appropriate approval of all invoices, and ensure timely payment of all accounts
Payroll including collection and review of timesheets, maintaining proper payroll deductions, updating pay rates, processing payroll on schedule, payroll tax deposits and reconciliation, maintaining all required payroll records, and other payroll related duties
General Ledger duties including daily and monthly closing entries, accruals, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation
Record and reconcile daily payments from multiple sources within the organization
Deposit cash and checks
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Assist Billing Staff with posting of payments on patient accounts as assigned
Sales & Use Tax and MN Care Tax calculations and payments
Work closely with HR staff in the administration of employee benefits
Maintain all financial records and assist with annual financial audit
Individual projects and responsibilities according to needs of the Finance Department
Other duties as directed by Sawtooth Mountain CFO and CEO
Job Qualifications:
Four-year degree in Accounting preferred – work experience in Accounting may substitute for education
General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll experience
Experience with accounting software and data entry
Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel
Ability to work independently
Analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
