Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant 1/Occupancy Specialist to join our team.
As an Accountant 1/Occupancy Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting the Housing Services Manager with the occupancy process, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
The person selected will assist the Financial Manager with financial statements for projects, bank statements, and payroll.
This is a vital role that contributes to the overall success of our organization.
Duties:
- Conduct eligibility screenings and determine applicant eligibility for housing programs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenant files and records
- Process move-ins, move-outs, and lease renewals
- Calculate rent payments and ensure timely collection
- Assist with financial auditing and regulatory reporting
- Collaborate with property management team to address tenant concerns and resolve issues
- Provide excellent customer service to tenants and applicants
- Utilize accounting software to manage financial transactions
- Monitor accounts payable and ensure timely payment of invoices
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred or 5 years' experience in governmental/fund accounting.
- Previous experience in occupancy management or related field
- Knowledge of private equity principles and practices
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, accrual accounting, and financial auditing
- Proficient in using accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for housing programs is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated financial acumen
